Aframe:

the use of alcohol in mating situations could be an entire article on its own, but briefly:

I think alcohol is mostly a hindrance, not a help, to seducers ...especially where confidence is concerned. You've heard the phrase "liquid courage". Pretty spot on for how most men use alky in social situations (especially "leks").

So, going on the eternal mating maxim of "Be Different"; what's more different than being in that situation and not drinking? If you're socially awkward about being without a drink, go ahead and order a seltzer water with lime and plenty of ice and carry it around, but even that's sort of a crutch.

I'm a fan of not drinking, because it gives you an advantage. Most of the girls in those environments will be drinking, and if you're not, you'll be more mentally sharp and focused than them. Which should = better seduction, but not always.

Do you have anything to say about non-drinkers and confidence? In particular, I'm interested in the relationship between "leks," alcohol, and confidence, but to be honest, I'm interested in what you have to say about alcohol in general. It's ubiquitous, and it's a factor in the game, and I'm interested in work-arounds to using it myself while not trying to overly disturb the various social environments that I find myself in while playing the game. I don't mind being around it or people who are enjoying it, but being a piker gets awkward.

Great comprehensive post. I never thought of breaking down conference to past experience, preparation and the other factors. Really a great way to digest it all intellectually.

Good job.
