Hey this is a great article, just found this recently. Been practising the breathing and paper blowing exercises for a while and starting to move on to the actual vocal stuff now that I'm getting the hang of belly breathing and breath control.

When I'm home alone I seem to be able to get the resonant rich loud voice easily enough. Not quite got it fully under control but I'm getting the right tone and volume, but the only thing is as soon as someone comes into the house and I talk to them, or I go out and even talk to a store clerk, my voice goes back to its old weedy self even though I'm trying to breathe properly and throw the words out, my brain seems to do otherwise! Confidence thing perhaps that I can do it alone no problem?

I'm guessing it's just a case of practising it enough that it becomes my natural way of speaking? As I say I've only discovered this recently but talking loudly, clearly and authoratively has always been a weakness of mine especially in loud nightclubs.

Byrdeye, that's a great suggestion, and I'd love to do it, but as it happens I am completely without recording equipment of any kind.....I will work on that, because I know it would be a great help for people to be able to see and hear as well as read.

Thanks to all for the feedback.

Fantastic post!

Any way you could attach a Youtube clip or mp3 to demontrate your voice, though? A small demo would help illustrate things a lot here.
